1990年の筒井康隆の推理小説、ロートレック荘事件の紹介です。
絶対2度読み返したくなる作品。
あらすじ
夏の終わり、郊外の瀟洒（しょうしゃ）な洋館に将来を約束された青年たちと美貌の娘たちが集まった。ロートレックの作品に彩られ、優雅な数日間のバカンスが始まったかに見えたのだが…。二発の銃声が惨劇の始まりを告げた。一人また一人、美女が殺される。
At the end of the summer, a group of young men and beautiful girls with promising futures gather at an elegant western-style house in the suburbs. A few days of elegant vacation seemed to have begun, adorned with the works of Lautrec.... Two gunshots signaled the beginning of the tragedy. One by one, the beautiful women are killed.
感想
読んでいる最中の微妙な違和感や読みにくさが、真相が明らかになった後に納得できた。違和感は理由をつけて納得してしまった自分がいたので、見事に騙されました。
書き方がフェアではないという意見もあるが、自分はフェアだと思う。
予備知識なしで読むべき作品。
I felt something strange and difficulty in reading the book, but it convinced me after the truth was revealed. I interpreted the discomfort in my own way and convinced myself of it. I was successfully tricked. Some people say that the writing style is not fair, but I think it is fair. You should be read this novel without prior knowledge.
感想（ネタバレあり）
見事な叙述トリック。
見取り図に正解が書いてあったのに、「主人公だけ苗字ありなんだ〜」って解釈してすっかり騙されてしまった。
この見取り図を堂々と出した作者は挑戦的だと思う。
ちなみに、英語には叙述トリックに対する直接の訳語はないようです。
その代わり「信頼できない語り手」Unreliable Narratorという言葉で表現されています。
信頼できない語り手とは、一人称視点の物語によく用いられる手法である。意図的に騙しているか、意図せずに誤った方向に進んでいるため、読者は語り手としての信頼性を疑うことになる。
An unreliable narrator is an untrustworthy storyteller. This style is most often used in narratives with a first-person point of view. The unreliable narrator is either deliberately deceptive or unintentionally misguided, causing the reader to doubt the credibility of the narrator.
