「ふるさと納税」という言葉は聞いたことがあるけど、やったことは一度もないので調べてみました。
今年トライしてみるかどうかは考え中。
ふるさと納税 Furusato Nozei とは、応援したい自治体に寄付をし、寄付することにより税金の還付・控除が受けられる仕組みのこと。
英語で説明するときは税金 taxというより、寄付 donation を使った方が誤解を与えない。
地方に寄付する仕組みなので、
hometown donation system といいます。
寄付をすると、多くの自治体からはお礼として、地方のお礼の品が送られてきたり、地域への旅行券・宿泊券をもらうことができる。
また、寄付したお金から最低寄付額の2,000円引いた額が、税金の控除という形で戻ってくる。
Under the furusato nozei system, people can make donations to local governments of their choice (自分の選択で）and in exchange (それに引き換え）can have part of their income tax reduced. Many recipient local governments offer return gifts to donors.
When you make your donation, the amount you donated minus 2,000 yen is deducted from your income or residence tax the following year.
よって、実質的に2,000円の寄付で、地方のお肉やお米などのお礼の品を受けとることができるのだ。
例えば、4万円寄付すると、2,000円超えた分は税金が控除される。よって38,000円は自分の口座に返ってくるということ。
For example, if you make a furusato nozei contribution of ¥40,000 to your chosen municipality, the furusato nozei formula would allow ¥38,000 to be deducted from your final tax burden. In addition, the receiving municipality offers a local product as a thank-you-gift to you.

やり方は、「さとふる」「ふるさとチョイス」「楽天ふるさと納税」といった、ふるさと納税のサイトから通販商品を買うのと同じような方法でできる。

また、ふるさと納税は1年中受付している。
ただし、1月1日から12月31日の1年間にふるさと納税を行った分が当年度の所得税の還付、翌年度の住民税の控除の対象となる。
